My name is Laura van Kessel.
I was born 23 years ago in a small town in Holland. One father, one mother, two sisters and lots and lots of music is what I grew up with.
At the age of 8 I was ‘forced’ to take music lessons, which, thankfully, I loved, and never quit. It started with a recorder. One year later that became an alto saxophone. At the age of twelve I (sort of) tought myself to play the piano and, with that, to write music.
After a lot of doubting I decided to go for the music completely and started my bachelor-studies for songwriting at 19.
Now, just finished my bachelor cum-laude, I can say i’ve written in almost every style, in all the languages I know, for myself, for others and with others.
But you’re never done learning!
